The 19th edition of “Prima del Torcolato” was celebrated on Sunday, January 19th 2014 in Breganze, our team was also there to distribute some of our Grappa Barili di Torcolato, an exclusivity by Poli created together  with the Breganze D.o.C. wine board.

In january, a big event is hold on Breganze’s main square to celebrate the exact moment when the Vespaiola grapes are pressed: the““Magnifica Fraglia Torcolato Doc Breganze” is also in to take part to this event.

In fact, the sweet nectar is obtained from the Vespaiola variety: the name Vespaiola (wasp) is due to the fact that these grapes feature a very high sugar content, so high that wasps and hornets are constanctly lured to the grapes. 

The name Torcolato (twisted) comes from the habit of twisting the freshly-harvested grapes in big plaits to let them later hang off the ceiling. 4 months are required for Breganze’s air to perfectly dry these grapes.
