What is the difference between "Grappa" and "Acquavite"?

"Acquavite" is a generic term and is a synonym of "distillate".
It is necessary to specify from which raw material it has been obtained from: Grappa, for example, is an acquavite from grape pomace, brandy is an acquavite from wine, vodka from potatoes, whisky from grain, rum from sugar cane and so on.
